MODEL CODE GUIDE

Overview

The model of the NSX series circuit breaker consists of two parts: "frame current + breaking capacity letter". For example, in NSX100N, NSX100 represents the 100A frame, and N represents the breaking capacity level (50kA at 415V).

If the breaking capacity letter (such as N is replaced by H) is changed under the same frame, the overall dimensions will remain basically unchanged, but the internal structure and ability to withstand short-circuit current will be different, and the price will also increase with the increase in breaking capacity.

Three additional parameters need to be confirmed:

poles: 3P / 4P

Trip unit types: TM (thermal magnetic type, used in power distribution situations), MA (pure magnetic type, used with thermal relay for motor protection), MicroLogic (electronic type, including measurement and communication functions)

Trip unit setting current range: needs to cover the rated current of the protected circuit

Selection Notes

The breaking capacity must be greater than or equal to the expected short-circuit current at the installation point. Choosing a lower one may damage the circuit breaker or even cause a safety accident during a short circuit. It is recommended that the site short-circuit current calculation results prevail.

Some tripping units in the same frame can be replaced, but they need to be confirmed to match the breaking capacity level of the frame.

The internal complete catalog number (such as LV430830) and popular models such as "NSX160F" that buyers often refer to are two ways of representing the same product. For formal quotations and orders, it is recommended to refer to the complete catalog number or nameplate parameters.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between NSX100N and NSX100H?

The frame current of the two is the same (100A), but the difference lies in the breaking capacity: N-level is 50kA at 415V, H-level is 70kA, H is suitable for occasions with higher short-circuit current levels, and the rest of the appearance and wiring methods are basically the same.

Can only the tripping unit of the circuit breaker be replaced without replacing the entire case?

Some trip units within the same platform/frame are eligible for replacement or upgrade, but the ratings, protection functions, accessories and configuration must be checked according to Schneider's corresponding frame and trip unit compatibility table; direct interchange cannot be determined based solely on the size of the frame.

How to confirm the breaking capacity required on site?

It is necessary to provide or calculate the expected short-circuit current at the installation point (the short-circuit calculation sheet can be provided by the power supply department or design institute), and we can assist in checking the appropriate breaking capacity level.
