Migration background and scope of application
CP2E is targeted at small machine control and provides the official reference for migrating from CP1E. Programs can be converted within a supported CX-Programmer environment, but the CPU type, number of I/O points, output method, Option Board, and communication configuration still determine the final product selection.
Use these part numbers to identify legacy equipment and evaluate migration paths. Before ordering, verify the complete ordering code, nameplate, motor or load conditions, existing wiring and required site functions.

What needs to be checked before replacement
Procurement and migration advice
If the legacy part number still has reliable inventory, the purchase of spare parts for the original model can be evaluated first; if the equipment still needs to be operated for a long time, the successor platform should be evaluated simultaneously. For discontinued parts, the real risk is often not "will the new model start?" but rather whether the wiring, communications, software engineering, mounting dimensions, or whether a legacy option will still meet field requirements after migration.
When sending an inquiry, it is recommended to also provide the complete part number, quantity, photo of the equipment nameplate, site voltage/motor parameters, and whether successor models are accepted. In this way, "original model inventory" and "successor model migration" can be compared together as two sets of plans.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can CP1E programs be migrated to CP2E?
You can refer to OMRON's migration process to use CX-Programmer for conversion, but you still need to check the hardware configuration, I/O address and communication after conversion.
How should I choose between CP1E-N and CP2E?
It depends on whether the original machine uses Option Board, serial port and network functions, which may correspond to different directions such as CP2E-S or CP2E-N.
Can relay output and transistor output be interchanged?
Not interchangeable by default. The output type directly affects the site load and wiring and should be consistent with the application.
Is it okay to only provide CP1E-E30 when purchasing?
not enough. The complete suffix should be provided such as DR-A, DT-D, etc. to confirm the power supply and output type.
