Series Overview
Series Overview
The GV2ME, GV2P and GV3P are Schneider's very common range of manual motor starters/motor protection circuit breakers in motor branches. They combine short-circuit protection, overload protection and manual isolation in a compact device and are often used for direct starting and motor circuits in combination with contactors.
Part-number Structure & Selection Notes
The part-number suffix corresponds to the setting current level defined by the manufacturer. The selection must be based on the rated current of the motor falling into the setting range, rather than just looking at the motor kW. Also consider the system short-circuit current level, coordination type, contactor combination and whether undervoltage/shunt accessories are required. GV3P covers a higher current range than GV2, with GV3P73 and GV3P80 covering 62–73A and 70–80A respectively.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I confirm the complete part number for GV2 / GV3 motor protection circuit breaker?
The part-number suffix corresponds to the setting current level defined by the manufacturer. The selection must be based on the rated current of the motor falling into the setting range, rather than just looking at the motor kW. Also consider the system short-circuit current level, coordination type, contactor combination and whether undervoltage/shunt accessories are required. GV3P covers a higher current range than GV2, with GV3P73 and GV3P80 covering 62–73A and 70–80A respectively.
What are the main differences between GV2ME01 and GV2ME04?
adjustable current range: GV2ME01 is 0.1–0.16A, GV2ME04 is 0.4–0.63A. Verify the complete ordering code and project conditions before selection or replacement; the series name alone is not sufficient.
Which specifications matter most when selecting GV2 / GV3 motor protection circuit breaker?
Key specifications to verify are adjustable current range, series. Match them against the equipment nameplate, drawing or original model, and retain every suffix, option and regional code in the complete ordering reference.
Why is the complete part number required when requesting a quote for GV2 / GV3 motor protection circuit breaker?
Models within GV2 / GV3 motor protection circuit breaker may differ in electrical ratings, construction, interfaces or accessories. For example, GV2ME01, GV2ME04, GV2ME08 are distinct configurations and cannot be interchanged on the series name alone. Using the complete part number substantially reduces mismatch risk.
